And it MIGHT just be that my husband spent many hours during a precious busy HOT weekend and got it all cleaned up and ready to re-plant so that hopefully soon it will look decent again. Maybe. Who knows.
And let's just SAY that he filled 8 huge black trash bags with dead grass that was painstakingly raked up and stuffed inside. He could have, really.
So it just might be possible that.... oh, I don't know.... 2 whole days later the dog was outside and decided to chew open EVERY LAST ONE OF THOSE BAGS and scatter the contents across the entire yard. That could be including grass bits and millions of bits of chewed up plastic bag pieces. Using your imaginations, you can see that would be quite discouraging to say the least. Especially if you were to imagine that the coming week would only get more and more overscheduled. Imagine that this husband hasn't had one minute to breathe or spend with his kids in more than a week, and yet more and more keeps getting asked of him.
So.... I arranged a little surprise for him today.
Immediately after school, I talked to the mother of a neighbor friend. I asked if I could have her boy come over today and help us out. She was totally on board (bless her!) My 2 older boys, plus me, plus the friend, went out there with some homemade milk carton "scoopers" and a rake and RE-BAGGED all of that freakin grass. And we cleaned up all of the scraps of plastic everywhere. And we stowed the bags in a safe place this time.

Unfortunately, I took this picture when we were nearly done. Even though they are still standing in deep grass piles, you would not BELIEVE how bad it was at the beginning. |

Told ya my yard looks like crap. |

And before you think I'm a slave driver, I bribed them all with ice cream cones and $5 bills. |
Thank you boys!!!
I've not seen such a big smile on Daddy's face in a long time.

What a wonderful act of service. You all are wonderful! I hope the culprit of making the mess felt good and guilty.
I would have screamed and not cleaned it up. You're a good wifey. :)
