One such thing was a little activity we tried yesterday. The idea and instructions can be found HERE, from Family Fun magazine. (Excuse me while I get down on my knees really quickly and bow to Family Fun magazine. You are the bessssssst!!!)

We called it a Newspaper Fort!
I grabbed a big stack of newspaper that was going in the recycle bin at my grandparents' house, and we used just about the whole thing! It took us quite a while to put together, and honestly, the kids lost interest in helping me. The joints had to be stapled -- that's a lot of layers to staple through! I did a pretty crummy job... maybe we should just try taping them if there's ever a "next time."
When it was finished, though, Tucker was beyond thrilled! With a simple sheet thrown over the top, he ducked inside and I didn't see or hear from him for HOURS.

Overall: a fun way to use up your old newspaper and do something different for a change... but not as easy as it looks!

I LOVE the Family Fun Magazine. I told Ian that I want a subscription to that magazine for mothers day. I know it's only ten bucks for a year, but I still feel like I need a holiday or something to justify spending money on myself.
We've had kind of a bummer of a spring break. Smith has strep throat and a double ear infection and has been throwing up. Fun fun fun!
I remember seeing that in the Family Fun Magazine. It looked complicated to me. :) I didn't realize it was strong enough to put a sheet on. Cool. Also, I remember when John and I went to Cali and the Target we went to was 2 levels too. Must be a California thing. Glad you had fun! PS. Love the little girl hairstyles!
you're so awesome.
