Independence Day, Day Trip!

This year for the 4th, we decided to go to the mountains just like two years ago so we could watch an awesome fireworks show without sweating to death.  It turns out that Jason's sister was going to be in town, so we invited them along.  It quickly evolved into an extended family affair!

(An affair that included 2 new babies!)

We started out with a picnic lunch in a lovely spot by a creek.

Cooper always gets the best "chocolate face."

Shade and seating was a little sparse, so Uncle Gary got inventive.

Next we all played in the water to cool off a little!
(or held the babies in the shade)

Since Mitchell (right) doesn't have any cousins near his age along for this trip,
we let him invite a friend (left.)

Some of us got a little wetter than others...

Next my little family split off from the group to catch a showing of "Monsters University."

We all grabbed dinner and found a beautiful green spot to play for a few hours,
eat our fun snacks,
and eventually watch the fireworks.
Since the sun was now going down the weather was PERRRRRFECT.

Then we drove home LATE at night and all 4 kids in my car were fast asleep!
The end.

What a fun 4th! What a treat for the cousins to get some time to play - family get-togethers are awesome. I'm in love with your patriotic picnic blanket!

I refuse to watch fireworks unless I'm inside or out of town. :)

I don't know why I don't remember you having your camera out but I'm so so glad you did! This was such a fun way to spend the day :)
