I have begun a little tradition within my church calling. (After 4 years, why not??) Every August, we have our annual "Birthday Party." We celebrate everyone's birthday all together. Happy birthday to you, me, everybody! Then I don't have to remember them the rest of the year and celebrate 25 times. Woo-ee I'm lazy!
So yesterday we had a birthday party, complete with balloons, a banner, strawberry cupcakes with sprinkles and magic re-lighting candles....

Oh man, they are so cute! There's usually 12 of them
(yesterday's attendance was a little low)
We have such fun together!
and we can't forget PRESENTS!
We make our own "gifts" and everyone gets to take something home. I try to have an extra-cool craft at the birthday parties... and I'm absolutely in love with this one. Thank you, Martha Stewart dot com!
It's a no-sew tote bag!!! How much more perfect can you get for 10 and 11 year olds? They took about 15 minutes each. In case you don't want to look it up yourself, I'll give you the instructions. It's SO EASY.
- Fold a piece of heavy-weight fabric, right sides together, the fold at the bottom.
- Fold down an inch on each top piece.
- Staple the straps in place to that folded inch (use webbing or similar for the straps.)
- Use duct tape to tape that whole fold down, covering the staples.
- Staple up the sides, cover that with duct tape as well.
- Form small gussetts for the bottom of the bag (or an upside-down "T" at the bottom of each side seam.)
- Staple across them, snip off the extra fabric at the corner, and cover that seam with duct tape.
THAT'S IT! I think the picture explains it if my instructions don't make sense.

How adorable is that???

P.S. Do you like my watermarks across those pictures? And my new header??? I was doing a little experimenting on my new favorite photo-editing website. www.picnik.com HOLY COW -- Seriously addicting.

It's no wonder you're still doing that... you have such great ideas and obviously make Activity days enjoyable for the girls.
