Our final day in New York City was Sunday. I had originally planned to go to church services that morning in the bottom floor of the temple. Cool, huh? BUT... due to the unplanned calamities of the night before, I was not excited about getting another night of 4 hours of sleep. I made an executive decision for myself and skipped church. It was the seventh day, and I rested. (May lightning strike me now.)
After sleeping in, storing our luggage, and checking out of the hotel, Jeri and I went BACK to that infamous shop and finally bought my Wicked t-shirt, along with some other do-dads. YESSSS!!! Oh, and icing on the cake, she offered to buy it for me as my mother's day present. She rocks. (Thanks again!)
We then walked aaaaallllllll the waaaaaay north to the Carnegie Deli to meet the whole group for lunch. This is a famous restaurant across from Carnegie Hall. It was horrendously crowded, and they shuffle you through a waiting line similar to "the Soup Nazi" on Jerry Seinfeld. Stand there! Go here. Wait there! You sulk with your head down like a scolded school child. FINALLY we got mashed into a corner. It was all a little suffocating to me.

The walls are plastered with all the celebrities who have been there. You might recognize Barry Williams in the picture above, centered just above our heads. Go Greg Brady! To give them a little credit, it WAS good food, and I hear they have the best cheesecake (of which I did not partake, bummer!)
Next was our visit to Central Park, purposely saved for our last day. It's like walking out of regular life and into a magical fairy tale. We wanted to take carriage rides all together. Of course it was pouring rain the whole day, so half of us were getting soaked to the bone by this point. The carriages were fun to snuggle up and see the park with at least a little shelter overhead.

Here's one carriage with me, Mom, Lori, and Janalee

This is Mr. Horsey that belonged to the other carriage

Me and Mom - a little wet and chilly

A few shots of the pretty paths, all soaked. I just might frame these!

Did I say fairy tale or what??? Can you see the bridge in the distance?
I had badly wanted to visit the Central Park Zoo and some other attractions there, because it is a HUGE place, and the pictures you see are only from one tiny edge of it. No joke. But alas, we ran out of time and needed to get back to catch our airport shuttle. Luckily, we had enough time, and 2 people were nice enough to walk that way with me, to stop by a divine bakery on the way back to the hotel and pick up some yummy baked goodies to take home. MMmmmm. It was a soggy, relatively easy, quiet day. We caught the shuttle to the airport, ate dinner there, and flew an eternity home, arriving late into the A.M. hours.
THANKS to all those who came! DANG to all those who had to decline the invitation, and I MISSED YOU to all those who were supposed to come, and had to drop out. Though I didn't feel like I could "fit it all in," -- definitely no regrets!!!
P.S. For those who were wondering........

THIS is the "purse picture" taken that night when I was locked up and could not participate. Remember, this was only ONE hotel room's worth of purses that were bought. My room could have added about 10 more.
And I had this one taken after we were already home from the trip. Woo hoo!
UNTIL NEXT TIME........ (who's in????)

Wow, what a trip. I have wanted to go to NY for a long time. I was supposed to go my Senior year and never went. I didn't realize Central Park was that beautiful... but you're right, very fairy-tale-ish.
I'm in! Btw: which one of all those lovely NYC purses is mine? : )
Thanks for the purse picture. I could make the trip just for that.
I didn't realize Central Park is so beautiful. I guess that's why so many movies are filmed there. Can you imagine the price of that real estate?!?!?
