Several of you are lucky enough to have family cabins to go to when you want to "get away." It may not even feel like a very big deal.
But to US it's a very big deal. We don't have a cabin, we have to rent ours. But we love it just as much!!!

Just to be outdoors and experience the cold weather is worth it!

Family togetherness with no distractions is worth it!

We were able to take a few days this past weekend and go to our new favorite place in the mountains. Just 90 min from home, decked out with everything we need, but humbly quaint and cozy too. We even took Grandma and Grandpa with us to share in the fun.

I started off by arriving at the cabin and collapsing into a lovely late afternoon nap. I awoke to dinner already prepared by Jason and his mom. WOW!?!? Talk about guilt. (I was supposed to help with dinner but I guess it was mind over mattress....) We ate a hearty "Kielbasa Skillet Dinner" and then ventured out to the main firepit to enjoy the evening. We sang to Grandpa's guitar and met some other families there, but the kids wanted to quit a little earlier than the rest of us, so inside we went. Then it was time for some yummy Berry Cobbler from Grandma's crockpot!
When all the boys were asleep, I took a hot bath and read my scriptures by the wood burning stove late into the night. Ahhhh.....
In the morning, we had french toast and omelettes! Note: omelettes made by the fabulous yet ill-named GT Express 101. Everyone was able to pack up and make it home in time for church (The only benefit of insanely late church times - you can go away on Saturday overnighters and not miss work OR church! Perfect!)
And yes, it HAILED on us on the way there. Gobstopper-sized! They were slamming on the car pretty good, and I was worried.... but she pulled through unscathed!

Do you know why it's called the GT Express 101? Good Thing it's express, because these people have never cooked before.
I think that was the backing behind it.
However, Mr. Cooper looks like he had a blast there, but where are his puffy coat pictures? You know, sometime very soon, you should come ann utilize our vactioning facilities in AZ, that way you don't have to pay for anything, and you can still vacation.
What do you consider cold?
Is this becoming a tradition? I might need to get details about this place because I know you said it was pretty affordable. . .
Where do you go? I don't have a cabin to use, but I love a trip to the mountains.
What a nice relaxing fun family time. There is always something nice about cabins:D
