Lean Mean Drilling Machine

This is what our exciting night life has consisted of for the past week: drilling holes in glass blocks. Glass blocks for a craft project for the upcoming Enrichment activity. It was supposed to be relatively easy, so I thought. My sister did it for her ward, and they told us exactly what to do. No luck. It took until the THIRD night, THIRD drill bit, and Kim's husband coming over for a major intervention before we were finally on a roll. But we are DONE! After 4 different evenings, many many hours of frustration, one sliced up finger, sore backs and hands, and a few introductions to the creatures that roam our garage at night.... we are done. Our joy cannot be described. This project involved actual blood, sweat, AND tears. Halle-freakin-lujah!

Here is Jason on STEP ONE, drill and drill and drill the snot out of that thing. We learned you have to go slow, hold it very still, wear eye protection, and keep squirting it with water to keep it lubricated. (Borrowing this huge drill press helped a ton, too.)

Amy on STEP TWO. Possibly the most flattering picture of me of all time. I walk the heavy, wet, slippery glass block down our Swiss-Alp-of-a-driveway to rinse it out with the hose. Otherwise you have wet shards of glass goop that dries all over it and doesn't look good. Shake out the water (from heavy, wet, slippery glass block) and also shake out little circle of glass that was cut out. I was sure to soak my feet and ankles, pictured above, while I was at it! Then hike back up the driveway mountain to grab the next one. We did this 98 times.

My gutter started to look like this. Even when we cleaned up all the glass chunks, it's still very SPARKLY! Must be a little pixie dust. I can't wait for Fantastic Friday so I can see these babies reach their full holiday decoration potential!!!

Yay! Congratulations on being done! I'm glad that Brad was able to help out. And you finished BEFORE Friday! Please be sure to take pictures of the event and finished products so we can see how all your hard work turned out.

No go rest those fingers and backs and take the night off to watch some TV (that you've probably missed in the last few days)--you deserve it!

Wow that's so nice of you to do that. So many people don't realize what goes into making church functions, function. Thanks for doing the behind the scenes work(even though I'm not signed up for the blocks).

I'm so bummed I missed Noelle's baby shower. I'm glad you posted some pictures. She looks soooo good.

Wow...that was a lot of work! I'm looking forward to seeing what all that was for.

P.S. I'm glad you are doing better. I wanted to leave some amazing comment that make you feel on top of the world but I not that good. Oh, and we just got our tickets to visit at Christmas so we need to get together!!!

I would have had no clue that making those required so much effort. What a great Enrichment Committee (including husbands) we have!
