Disneyland Day One

We did it! We finally took a "family vacation." Not a family reunion, not a trip to see or stay with relatives. We love those trips, too, but ever since last summer when I was 4 months pregnant we were talking about going to Disneyland together. Waiting for the day to arrive felt like forever, and we strategically timed it for AFTER school started and the summer rush (and heat) was over.

Last Tuesday we took off. After dropping off the baby at Aunt Kimmy's house (thank you Aunt Kimmy!!!!!!) we set out on our journey.

Tucker's making good use of his box-lid tray to eat lunch. Got a little mustard there, buddy.

Mitch got front seat privileges again!

Me, this was all I needed to be happy. (Man, have you TRIED these?!?!?!) No, they were not my lunch.

The next morning we met Jason's parents at the entrance and began our adventures of Disneyland Day One.

We had to go directly to the Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters ride first. This was the most anticipated attraction for the kids. They've never been on it before. Tucker especially has been a huge Buzz fan his whole life. See Buzz in the background there?

And of course he loved the ride! He was so busy zapping the targets that he couldn't possibly peel his eyes off them for the picture. He rode this 3 times that day, and 5 times overall on our trip. 4 of those times we walked right onto the moving cars. You've gotta love Disneyland with NO lines - how cool was that?!?!

The boys also really loved the Pirates ride, especially the pirate gift shop afterwards! Tucker really had his heart set on buying this Captain Jack hat with built-in dreadlocks....

...and he sure was a crack up wearing it! But they both settled for the plastic swords instead. These were a great choice and have received a LOT of mileage ever since! (I love the mean pirate-faces he has to use when posing for my pictures.)

We rode the big Riverboat - which I had never done before. Here's the men enjoying the views and the breeze. Jason's dad is allergic to smiling - but I swear he's a fun guy!

While in Frontierland we ran into Woody! This was the one and only character my kids took a picture with. For some reason they totally don't give a hoot about that part of the Disney experience.

And here are the lovely women of the trip! By the way, I don't want to hear any cracks about my fanny pack. I know it's not fashionable, but if you had to carry around my stuff you'd a'done it too!

Poor Grandpa was all pooped out by the time this day was almost over, he fell asleep in the middle of Toontown!

Someone needs to make cool and fashionable fanny packs. Because their purpose it still good, its just the look.

You are so smart in the time you picked to go. We did a weekend in Feb and I thought that was good, you beat us out though!

How fun! You guys did it smart. No lines?? That Buzz ride is so fun. (Brian and I got a teeny bit competitive with each other on that one, LOL.) And why WASN'T the candy your lunch? It's a road trip! ;)

I cannot believe that anyone can actually fall asleep in the middle of that park! What a weirdo, my dad! Those strangers in the pictures look positively frightened of him!

Don't worry about the fanny pack--if I didn't have a stroller, I'd be sporting one at Disney too!

Those candy corns look a little weird, but I'll try them based on your very trustworthy word. I've never disliked any treat you've recommended. :)

O.k., first, I don't think I would've noticed the fanny pack had you not brought attention to it. But let me just say that 1992 called and wants it's "purse" back!!
Secondly I have to say that Tucker's mustard face reminds me of the movie BIG.
And I do love him in his pirate dreadlocks with his pirate face. It was very scary!!!
