A Little Choppety Chop

Here's another one of my recent sewing adventures, this time quick and easy.

So I had this dress... I got it super cheap and I liked the material.  But you know when some things just end up looking better on the hanger?  That would be this baby.  Once I got it home I didn't like it at all.

A bit pilgrim-y?

Pregnant much?

 (No, I'm not.)

So guess what I did?  I whacked the top of that dress right off!
No more dealing with my flat-chestedness and that weird empire waistline.
I added a big wide piece of elastic at the natural waist
and attached the material right to the bottom of that
using the ol' stretch it as you go method.

Ta da!  Maxi skirt.

Quite a bit more flattering.  I hope?

A whole new item that I'm WAY more excited to wear,
and it only cost me about 2 more bucks for the elastic.

So I had another one... this jersey knit sundress type thing was perfectly fine,
until I washed it and it shrunk up a little too short for me.

CHOP!  Summery skirt!

This was a great project that took 10 whole minutes and very little money.
If you look below, you can see how my line of stitching is a little wobbly
(which is hard to avoid because you're stretching that elastic pretty hard while you go.)
So I'm going to have to work on that :(

You're so resourceful. Also, I have a dress that totally makes me look pregnant too.
