Back in 1999, three newlywed couples met in their apartment complex and went on to be life-long friends!
This summer we had a reunion dinner/circus at our house.
Would you believe that these are all of our children NOW?
(in age order - minus the youngest who already went to bed)
We were all pregnant at the same time with those 3 huge cuties on the left.
Lately I've been making some preemie items to donate to a friend who puts together bereavement kits.
These are given to parents in the hospital who lose
(or are about to lose) their baby.
Kind of a somber crafty project, heart-breaking and heart-warming at the same time.
Look how tiny the hats are!!!
I'm very happy that this month my husband put up 3 storage shelves for me.
Nothing pretty or "showy"
but opens up tons more space - yay!
Our laundry room came with the lower shelf already... Jason added the one on top.
I still need to organize it a little better.
Same thing in my master closet. I have a place for all my purses now!
Before they were mashed into my shoe shelves and constantly falling out
which I appropriately called a Purse Avalanche.
Now they stay put AND I have more room for SHOES!
Hmm... dangerous...
The 3rd shelf was added to the opposite side of my closet, but I haven't filled it up yet.
Not so camera-ready. Plus you get the idea with the first 2.
My monsters had their first day of school already!
7th grade at the Junior High
4th grade
Preschool
Somebody was PRETTY wiped out after his first day!
As if that wasn't enough excitement... the beginning of the school year also marks the time for Mitchell's birthday. (Whew!) These pre-teen ages are SO HARD to shop for. Doesn't care about toys anymore, but not yet old enough to care about clothes. He only wants crazy expensive technology gadgets that he's not getting anyway - HA!
So... after much painful deliberation, we were rather proud of ourselves for settling on a few ideas. Even more excited that they were a HIT!
Before school had started, one night we surprised Mitch with his first gift. It was evening, and he opened this envelope saying that the very next morning he and his dad were leaving bright and early to drive up to the mountains to watch our pro football team's official training session.
(Mitch is a HUGE fan, and he can never go to games because 1- they are massively expensive and 2- they nearly always play on Sundays.) This was the next best thing, and you can see on his face above just how happy he was!
They had a great time! A whole father-and-son day together.
This birthday was extra special because Mitchell was ordained a deacon.
He got his first REAL suit to wear to church.... SO snazzy!
For our celebration with one side of the family, I made this KILLER
Those are cut-up swiss rolls on the outside.
Inside are 2 layers of ice cream plus some hot fudge sauce.
OH MY.
Mitchell's other gift was this set of fancy laser tag guns.
Holy cow are they cool!
We can't wait for cooler weather so we can play tournaments outside for HOURS
without having to call an ambulance from all the heat stroke.
WE LOVE OUR COUSINS!

Those tiny little hats. Oh my.
What? Mitchell is in 7th grade???????????? I still remember when Nylene and I went to welcome him into primary when you first moved in. "I, I, I'm Mitchel!!" He was so excited. I can't believe he's a deacon now. Seriously, what is going on?
That picture of Mitch in a SUIT made me a little teary-eyed! He's so grown-up!! I know it'll be another blink and that'll be a pre-mission photo. Amazing. Looks like a fun Summer!
THERE'S the school pics of those 3! ;) So fun to see - Cooper is just precious! I loved the suit pics too - snazzy indeed! :)
I was once a recipient of a little hat like that, as well as a sweet blanket. They meant so much to me, so thanks for doing that for others. :)
Love all these pictures of your boys. You have a deacon! I am starting to freak out a little at how fast my kids are suddenly growing up.
Love you, Amy!
Aaaand... You totally get the cool mom of the year award! Most impressive, all around. :)
We put up extra shelves over the built in shelves in all our closets at the old home too. It was so nice!
Mitchell is getting so big. I still remember watching him in primary and how he talked so grown up even then. Laser tag! How fun! We never owned any, but our friends had them and they were sooooo cool. :)
