Weird Stuff

My incision/scar at 7 weeks

  • Did you know that there were no stitches or staples used to close me up on the outside?  For something of this size, doesn't that sound crazy?  I was just taped and/or glued I guess, because for the first few weeks all of that junk kinda had to wear off.  But there ARE stitches on the INSIDE which are now dissolving and sometimes poking through the skin a bit.  My surgeon assured me this is normal.  So... dissolve-able stitches underneath that still break through the surface of the skin?  Go figure.  Either way, this puppy is starting to sting more often.

  • Does anyone remember my post a year ago about the silly little cookies that looked like carrots in dirt?  Well what started out as a quick idea in my head and treat for my boys has now taken the interwebs by storm!!!  I never intended, never would have guessed anyone would think this was THAT cute - HA!  Especially since Pinterest has become so popular, my cookies have been pinned about a kajillion times.  As of today, and I'm not making this up, that post has been viewed  22,235 times.  I guess a lot of people are visiting my blog... they are just complete strangers.  (Where did all my friends go?)

  • I'm getting rather talented at doing things without bending my back.  The list includes:  lying down in bed like a tall tree that's chopped down and falling over, picking things up with my toes and transferring them to my hand, if I'm wearing shoes or socks then I use my foot to slide the item up the wall until I can get it in my hand, or doing an Olympic-weight-lifter-style squat in front of drinking fountains (that one is VERY attractive.)

WOW! That's a ton of views! But those cookies are freaking awesome. No joke.

I had to go through physical therapy when I was little - for my feet - and one of the things I worked on was picking things up with my feet. Great skill to have - who knew!? I use it now because I'm so dead lazy. Bend down and picking it up? Too hard. Grab it with my toes - sounds good!

The mental image of you squatting like that in a dress in front of a church drinking fountain is pretty funny!

And the Pinterest, carrot cookies thing... it was only a matter of time before the world realized your crafty brilliance. :)

I've had internal, dissolving stitches twice. Once in my mouth and once somewhere else. Ha. They are weird.

That's amazing how many times that post was viewed. Wow! (I'm still here, right here in Mesa). :)

So I know I haven't been a good friend and commenting on your posts on facebook about your surgery and what not, but I promise I have been silently supporting you from afar. I have sent up many prayers on your behalf (and even your name on the temple prayer list). I hope you can be back to normal soon.

And I think I may just have to make those cookies with my kiddos for easter. It looks like a lot of fun. You are so creative.
