My Quickie Christmas Blanket

Yesterday I had ZERO plans. No shopping to be done, no parties to bake for, no where to go. Glorious! We all just lazed around and had a wonderful day at home.

On a whim, I decided I wanted to use my free time to make a Christmas blanket. Not a gift, just something for our house. We all know I really enjoy the 'act' of sewing alone, but this time I was excited to keep it for myself.

I had bought a chunk of this ADORABLE vintage-y looking fabric many months ago. It was from that cheap-o Walmart stuff for $1.50 a yard, can you believe it? I didn't know what I was going to do with it, I just loved it. When I thought of a Christmas blanket, I knew I could dig that out and use it!

When you get up close, you can see the lyrics from "Jingle Bells" written all over. So cute!

For the back side, I bought this button print to match. Then I stippled it all over (the wavy lines you might see) with some cheap-but-fluffy batting in between. To save time, I bought some bias tape to go around the edges. While yes, it was easy and quick, I'll probably never do that again. I think it looks and feels really terrible when compared to a traditional hand-done binding.

Either way, it's so nice to have our own little lap-quilt for snuggling under this week!

Beautiful! I just learned Monday what stippling was from my sister, who is in town, and is awesome like you when it comes to sewing.
