As if reading my mind, just a week before I began my project, Jill from "Homemade By Jill," went and posted THIS. Steel yourself before you click on that link. It will knock your socks off!!! Wow. The best play mat ever.
So here I am having a pretty hectic week, I'm short on time... what's a girl to do? Why, copycat like the pathetic fool that I am! This is my completely ripped off version of Jill's beautiful creation for her son. Mine is the 2-day, quickie cheapy version, with no attention to detail or quality, hahahaha! (Plus a little bit of firefighting mixed in.) Regardless, I hope he has some fun with it!

First is the Fire Station. That white "garage door" lifts up to open and close.

This is the "park" - Pretend it looks like a park.
You can also see the cute train tracks...

This is a random building (on fire, of course.)
The little red bump next to it is a fire hydrant
with a shoelace/hose sticking out.

Here's a house. Also on fire.
A little morbid, I know. But the kid needed
to play firefighter!

Self explanatory?
Do you like that I used a Sharpie to
scribble the words on everything? hehehe

Every kid recognizes the golden arches.
The little doors can open on this one, too.

And last, this is the beach.

The very best part? Total cost: zero. That's some pretty fun stash-busting if you ask me.

Obviously we have different definitions of "detail" and "quality". I think it looks great!
I'm with Anna. So cute!
I was totally dazzled by Jill's and have plans for one for Carson {someday} and I LOVE your simple version - I love simplicity!
Don't sell yourself short! I think your playmat looks great, and the burning buildings are really clever for a boy who loves firefighters. I'm sure he will LOVE it!
he loves it. he has played with it every day since.
