You May Have Heard...

There's a new movie coming out this weekend.
Around our house, this is a big deal.
Like, the BIGGEST of big deals.

Once upon a time, my middle boy fell in love with
all things Buzz Lightyear.

We used to say:
Toy Story is his universe
and Buzz is the sun.
How true it was.

Here's a walk down Tucker's memory lane.

Here he is, 2 yrs old,
blasting off in his imaginary pair of
"Buzz wings"
in Buzz PJ's too, of course.

Just a plastic hanger, mom.

Here he got to meet the REAL DEAL!
3 yrs old in Orlando

And check out this giant Buzz statue
(Probably one of my favorite pics of this kid - EVER -
cuz it's just soooo "Tucker")

To give you an idea of how big it was,
here he is playing on the statue's feet.

Full Buzz costume for his 4th birthday.
Boy, has this thing gotten
a lot of mileage!

The Buzz ride in California
5 yrs old

Shooting the Evil Zurg

Then about a year ago, Tucker informed me that
he no longer liked Buzz Lightyear.
He went so far as to ASK me to pass along this info
to both of his grandmas
so they would no longer buy him Buzz-related gifts.
(So thoughtful of a 6 year old.)

That was all BEFORE
he caught wind of the new movie coming out.

Then a trailer was released...
and merchandise started showing up in
the stores again...
and commercials for the actual movie...

And now it seems
he has experienced a change of heart.
The love (no, obsession) with Buzz
has been rekindled stronger than ever!
This kid has been counting down the release
for the last 6 months.

WE CAN'T WAIT!!!

My kids are pumped too! Colt ran out and bought the new Toy Story 3 DS game. I don't think Jonathan's seen any of the movies, but what with all the hype, he's excited as well. Today at the doctor's, the doctor asked Jonathan what kind of cake he wanted for his upcoming birthday. His reply, "Buth." Uh, what? We asked again, and again he said, "Buth."

A ha! I said, "You mean Buzz Lightyear?" He nodded furiously with a huge grin on his face.

Love those Tucker pictures! He looks A LOT like Cooper. They must be related. I'm so glad that Buzz Lightyear has made a revival for Tucker.

Have fun!!

I love this part of Tucker, the never-ending obsession with Buzz. I seem to remember him telling me personally that he doesn't really care about Buzz anymore... ha!

Also, that first picture of him looked so much like Cooper to me--what a surprise! I always thought Coop looked so much like Mitch, but I can totally see him in Tucker now too!

That buzz obsession is too cute. For Smith it was Mario and Luigi. My kids like toy story, but never got super obsessed like many others. In fact we don't have ANY kind of TV channels right now(Still haven't purchased an antenna since we moved here) so my kids don't even know that the new Toy Story is out right now. I didn't know either until I read your post.

Anyways have fun at your movie. Let me know if it's any good or not, maybe we'll have to go check it out as well.

not sure how long it will take for us to get it over here (maybe by next weekend), but I'm prepping my kids. Toy story was the first movie/ tv (aside for baby einsteins videos) that really grabbed Asher's attention and saved my sanity when we had to pack up and move fm California to Boston. He was Buzz that year for Halloween as well.

DID YOU GO?!?! We saw it and it was really cute--intense, or moreso than the others, but really cute!
