Stuff I've Been Up To ...besides sewing. But also some sewing.

Here's a sneak peek into "My Life."

My life, meaning my magnetic calendar on the fridge. I live and die by it. If it's not written on there, I don't know about it. If it IS on there, I'll do it. I personally believe that everyone in America should have one of these. (Psst! They were only $1 at Michaels!)

Funny side story: Once upon a time, I had some difficulty finding these in stores. They suddenly disappeared! So when I found them at Michael's that day, I couldn't resist the urge to HOARD them. My sister and SIL had also become addicted (due to my recommendations), so when we found them, we literally bought DOZENS for everyone. For a buck, might as well stock up! We simply can't imagine a life without our week-at-a-glance magnetic fridge calendars. *Shudder* So now I have a drawer full for the next few decades.... whew!!!

Anyway... here's some random stuff keeping me busy lately:

Garden is coming along.
Not the greatest, but somewhat still alive.
I'll take it!

Strawberries...

Tomatoes! See them?

I always love making THIS

result in THIS.

I will forever love short, short hair on men and boys.
Don't they look great?

This whole Zac Efron/Justin Bieber look makes me want to
attack them with my clippers.

(And there's a lot worse out there, don't get me started.)

Moving on.

I'm so happy to get to spend plenty of time with this little buddy.

Do you know any other 2-yr olds that habitually eat steamed squash for lunch?

He cracks me up with little things everyday...

Once Cooper was just yelling and yelling the words to a song.
Happily, yet it still got annoying.
I asked him to please be quiet, and he said,
"But I want to sing!"

While changing his diaper, I said: "You have a mess all over your bum."
Cooper: "No, dat's a butt."

In other news, I recently saw
a CONVERTIBLE Geo Metro.

Now come on, if you're rich enough to spend all that money
to customize your car,
wouldn't you start out with a better car???

My sister Angie had her baby!!!

His name is Jeremy, and I want to take a bite out of those cheeks.

We got to visit them at their home today, and I think Mitchell fell in LOVE.
He's going to be one awesome babysitter in a couple more years!

P.S. I love these guys.

Oh, and of course there's been some sewing, too. HA HA! You thought I'd avoid that topic this time did you? That title was a wee bit deceptive.

Kate came over to learn how to do the infamous Julie-twirly-skirt.
(I believe this is the 7th one I've made -- or taught to make.)
Don't you just love the 3 little heads RIGHT next to the machine?
Yes, that's sewing with kids.

But that's ok, because it meant I got to do lots and lots of THIS.

Remember the little dress with the knots on the shoulders I made for my niece?
Well it took me a while, but her siblings got matching gear!

I got them done JUST in the nick of time for Mother's Day.
That little necktie I made from an actual store-bought PATTERN.

-GASP!-

And let me tell ya, it was a beast!
I'm anxious to try again...
but DANG I hate those patterns.
(It must have been written in Japanese.)

Lastly.... AHOY! Somebody in Georgia
is going to have a fun birthday party!!!

These were a dumbed-down version
of my real thing, and not stuffed yet,
but don't they look fun?

So much updating! Let's see...

I need those calendars; are they still at Michaels?
Your garden is looking great, and I LOVE fresh tomatoes!
I totally agree with you on the hair, I think that's why I've already trimmed Carson's.
I love your sewing projects. I've heard ties could be hard, but all of those turned out so cute.
And yeah for baby snuggling!!

I'm so jealous of your strawberries. Awesome job!

And I think Kenadee (Kennade? Kenady?) looks so grown up! I couldn't believe her in that picture. Those matching family outfits are cute. :)

Hey now, don't knock the Geo! My little Prism gets 35 miles to the gallon right now! She may be old, but she'll beat the pants off any newer (non-hybrid) car with that kind of gas efficiency :)

Sounds like you have been busy busy busy!

Oh my dear Ames, how I love and MISS you!!! I know, I know, even though we live in the same state, I still wish we lived closer!!

I haven't yet given your calendars a try because "my life" calendar has to live with my in my purse or else I lose track of everything. However, I did see some of yours at our local Wal-green's the other day and thought of you!! If I remember correctly, they did cost a tad bit more at WG's...maybe $2??

I'm so happy to see your garden is growing...still haven't had time to put ours in. Maybe this fall.

I too CANNOT stand longish hair on boys/men--yuck! I comment on it to my boys everytime I see it on someone and remind them we will always keep their hair SHORT and neat!

Your mad sewing skills never cease to amaze!

Yay for babies--snuggling them and loving them! Congrats to your sweet sis and her family on the beautiful new addition. : )

I actually like long hair on men. Must be the hippie in me. You are a very busy woman. How do you have the energy? You make my head spin. I am so impressed at what you get done.

You are always such a busy mama!! Inspiring!
I totally agree on the Efron/Beiber hair...it's so ugly!
And Angie's baby is so cute with that fiery red hair!
So, you're the one that got Kim hooked on the fridge calendar huh?!!

I'm with you on the long hair thing. I'm all about short hair on boys. It's so much cleaner and looks so much nicer. Also I finished my skirt today FINALLY. I am going to wear it tomorrow. It looks okay. Not as cute as yours, but it was fun to make. :)
