She Works Hard for the Money

Here's my latest project that I've been working on (very sporadically) over the last month. It's for a lady that my mom works with, who wanted a blanket for her husband. He had one from childhood with a satin edge that is all worn out. So she basically wanted to surprise him with a new blanket: must have satin edge.

I wondered how in the world I was going to make something manly, grown-up looking, but still have a satin edge? While browsing fabrics one day it hit me: sports! I asked if he had a favorite team and sure enough, he's been a 49'ers fan ever since he was a little kid.

So here it is, a little plain (trying to keep the costs/labor down) but it's very soft and snuggly!!! I sure hope he enjoys his new blankie :)

Oh shoot, I forgot to figure out the final measurements.
Let's just say it's about 60" x length of my couch

Detail of the front
That gold stripe looks really crinkly.
I promise it's sewn on nice and flat, the puffiness of the blanket
just makes it reflect in the flash all weird.

The back is all fleece. And there's that satin edge...
That was fun to do; I might try it again!

What do you think??? This is the first time someone's
really paid me for a big project and I'm crazy-nervous.

I'm having a hard time focusing on the blanket b/c my thoughts are a little consumed with a guy that wants a satin edge on a blanket. :) It turned out great.

Woohoo! Looks great! I like the black satin you ended up using for the trim. I thought you were going to use the gold. I think that would've looked good as well. But, the black looks great, too!

Good job, Amy!
