NORTH CAROLINA!

My visit with Jaime and her family was wonnnderful! It was so great to be together, play with her kids, run errands, share stories, recipes, websites, etc. I did girly stuff, took naps and fed bottles, the works!

Instead of a daily play-by-play, I thought I'd just give you a few categories of picture-storytelling.

On my first morning there, after showering and getting ready, this is what I looked out the window to see:

Some good old fashioned Saturday family chores.

Yep, that's an Amy hair-do she's sporting :)

Am I dreaming?? Seriously?

THIS is their gorgeous house and yard.
It looked like a storybook!

This was the view from my bedroom window. I could have stared out the windows all day. I can understand how keeping those leaves raked up is a pain in the butt... but OH HOW BEAUTIFUL!

Next category: Church and Sunday. This was my biggest picture day. Mostly because the girls all wore their skirts and a little dress that I made for them! (Oh golly was that fun. I rarely-to-never make girly stuff.) So here they are modeling for you, in their Amy-clothes and Amy-hairstyles:

Yes, I was in heaven, in case you were asking.

At church, literally everywhere we went, people were stopping Jaime and complimenting the baby's dress. She was always quick to give me credit :) The older girls got several comments, too. We truly lost count - it was awesome. And yes, I was still in heaven, in case you were asking.

**UPDATE: I so rudely forgot to mention that my local friend Julie inspired me for the idea of the skirts, which I had seen on her own daughter. She shared lots of tips and even a chart of all the measurements I would need. THANK YOU SO MUCH JULIE!!!

After church, I offered to watch the kids in an empty room while their parents had to stay for a quick meeting. To pass the time, we started taking goofy pictures. What a riot!!!

Little Slobber Bob

Showing off her favorite hair again

Giving the skirt a good TWIRL!

Looking for mischief!

Bleh.

HILARIOUS!

Sunday afternoon we painted fingernails with a myriad of colors.

Shake 'em till they're dry!

(Funny side note: the next day the oldest went to school and must have told her neighbor friend about Amy and her nail polish. Both the neighbor girl AND her little sister decided they wanted to come over after school and have this Amy-person do their nails, too! And that they did.)

Somehow we always ended up in my bed giggling away...

This guy was too shy to climb on the bed, but at least I caught this grin!

Next category: quilting! Lucky me, Jaime shares my new love of quilting. Since we have a friend in common (another former roommate from BYU days) that just found out her very first baby is going to be a girl... Jaime had the great idea that we make her a blanket together. I'm 99.9999% sure that Maren does not read our blogs, so I'm going to show off our creation. We finished this in 2 evenings, and I think it will be perfect for her.

Oh please, oh please, don't let Maren read my blog!

And last: just a few pretty things I snapped from around town. Everywhere we went, it was just a forest of loveliness. I forget that in other parts of the country, things just spontaneously GROW! Go figure!?

And the trees look like they are plugged into electrical outlets.

This was one of the many stained-glass windows of the local church. It even had a bell tower that rang everyday. It was beautiful! Seems silly, but I swear that was the first time I have ever heard REAL ringing church bells.

The last view I got from the plane when leaving..... sniff sniff.

Jaime -- I love you. I adore you.
Thank you for sharing a little bit
of your life with me. I will never forget it!
(And now it's YOUR TURN!!!)

Oh, I'm so happy for you. I know how Jaime can make one feel so much better. Lovely pictures, too. But I must admit, I am slightly jealous (sniff, sniff). :)

That house is HONESTLY my dream home. Oh my goodness. What a blessed girl!

I'm sure you loved all the girl time. So much fun! I love that the friends came over to have their nails done. Too cute.

Your quilt looks great, so sweet!

Hearing stories about FALL in other places makes me wonder why any of us live anywhere that DOESN'T have four real seasons!

Oh how I wish we had "seasons" here. It's so ugly in comparison to places like N. Carolina where you were.
I LOVE the skirts and dress you made, the fabric is adorable!! That quilt is really cute too! You're so talented!

Wowy what a trip. Those skirts and dresses are awesome! Where did you learn to make those? Seriously I want to know. Pop over to my blog and tell me.

And what a beautiful place to be. I know that a lot of people like to visit the beach or want to live near water, but not me. I want to go were there are lots of trees and forest. She seriously has my dream home...so beautiful.

Amazing trip. I'm glad the skirts were a hit. You must make more! The trees are breathtaking. It makes me want to buy a last minute ticket to somewhere where they really have the season fall. The problem is i don't care for the winter. . . but fall. . . I could live in a freeze time of colorful trees. Thanks so much for sharing your pictures and trip. It looks fabulous!
