I found this little cutie pie on the ceiling of my garage arriving home from the RS broadcast Saturday night. Although they are not that cute, I was thrilled.
Why?
My experience as a homeowner in this area has taught me that whenever the geckos arrive, ALL THE OTHER BUGS DISAPPEAR. They eat them all! Crickets, roaches, spiders... woo hoo!
So I will NOT be chasing these guys away. If possible, I would build them a little house complete with fireplace and welcome mat. Stay! Get comfy! Multiply and replenish! I'd much rather have a bunch of little shy nocturnal (and rather weirdly pinkish see-through) lizards running around my garage than pretty much anything else.

DO they eat bugs? I didn't know! We've had a little family of these living in our carport for some time now. We love them. :)
We've been finding them in both our front and back yard the last 2 months too. There are also a few babies, YES! ;) We love them for the bugs they eat, plus I think they are cute. I wish they would breed faster though.
YES! We see those outside quite often and I never freak out. We have never had too much of a bug problem and I only get my home sprayed a few times a year! gotta love 'em!
Was this before or after we went out for gelatos?
I would love it if these little guys came around more often! Actually a few months ago we had one run inside our house when I opened the garage door. It freaked me out. They are SO quick. It ran straight under the oven-range and I never saw it again. I was worried that it would die under there and actually attract more bugs that way. Eventually we pulled out the oven and it wasn't behind there. I hope it didn't die somewhere else... like in the bottom of my cupboards...
Oh, Deb reminded me (with her comment on another post of yours) that we one time had a lizard squished between the middle of the panes of our garage door. It was half inside and half outside. Eeeww! It was as if it had been crawling on it when it was up and was running on it as it was closing and got stuck in the middle.... Squish! We didn't even notice it until it was pretty much dried up. I was too creeped out to move it. Then a few days later it just fell out when we opened the garage door. I think my kids kicked it into the street from there.
Ya, we're random.
We had a different type of lizard in Chula Vista when I was little. We loved them for the same reason...and they were fun to chase around 'cause their tails would fall off to deter predators. :)
