Our Weekend

This weekend my uncle David was in town and we had some fun getting together with family. Saturday night we had dinner at Kim's and enjoyed their backyard firepit. (It warmed everyone up from the bitter low 70's temperatures outside that were so crippling! -note everyone's short sleeves in the picture)

Afterwards my dad got kinda anxious and wanted us to stop by his house on the way home to see a surprise. The more he mentioned it and the closer it got, you could see the subtle twinkle in his eye, he was excited! Now for those of you who don't know my dad... it takes quite a while for him to do anything, especially spend a little money. He's not one for big changes or surprises. Except once in a while he'll just explode and amaze us all. I guess this was one of those times! As we drive up to the house we saw a little trailer parked in the driveway, the kind you can haul stuff in, but it was small. Then next to that I noticed 2, count them, two quads!!! It took a few minutes for us to learn that not only was the trailer for hauling the quads, but it unfolds and pops up to be the coolest camper tent I've ever seen! It compacts so nicely back into that tiny little trailer, and then you can drive the quads right up on top of it for travel. SO COOL. The grandkids were scrambling all over everything, and of course they thought the camper was the best "fort" ever, acquired solely for them to play in! The rest of us grown-ups were just drooling with envy!
